In the United States as of 1996, 223,000 Primary Care Physicians, including 81,400 General/Family Practice Physicians, 46,600 Pediatricians, and 95,000 General Internal Medicine Physicians and numerous additional health service organizations are administering vaccinations to the 285 million Americans.  These Medical Practitioners, by law, must notify the state of each child's vaccination record so that the states' immunization registries can be updated. The notification process is currently done mostly manually or not at all. 

The national Vaccination Advisory Counsel (NVAC) estimates there is only a 60% minimum compliance rate in the U.S. regarding the completion of basic vaccine schedule and 20% of vaccinations are given improperly.
